Just In: Glasner’s “dominant” star signing is “close to being signed” by Crystal Palace.

In an attempt to replace Trevoh Chalobah, Crystal Palace hopes to recruit Juventus defender Tiago Djalo before the deadline, according to The Daily Mail.

Chelsea’s decision to recall Chalobah from his loan stint at Selhurst Park earlier this month dealt the Eagles a blow.

After being shut out at Stamford Bridge, the English center-back was a regular under Oliver Glasner,

but Enzo Maresca wanted him back in West London.

Three days ago, Moroccan center-back Chadi Riad’s feared ACL injury made matters worse for Palace.

This increased pressure on the team to bolster Glasner’s defense before the window closes on February 3.

His team is in 13th place and has scored 30 goals in 23 Premier League games.

Although Djalo hasn’t been a regular at the Estadio da Luz, Palace wants to finalize a deal for him before the window closes,

so they need the Portuguese defender to end his loan at FC Porto. Only five of the 24-year-old’s 12 outings have been in Liga Portugal.

Glasner may find Djalo, a quick center-back with versatility across the backline, to be a huge asset at Selhurst Park.

After only six months with Juventus, he made one appearance for the senior squad at the Allianz Stadium

before joining Porto on loan last summer. He started with Sporting CP before joining AC Milan,

but he never made an appearance for the Rossoneri’s first team, thus he’s kind of a journeyman now.
