Just In: Following the rejection of Stoke City’s transfer offer, Bristol City’s manager issued a warning.

Liam Manning, the manager of Bristol City, has provided an update on Mark Sykes after it was reported that

Stoke City’s transfer attempt for the player was turned down.

Although the 27-year-old winger’s contract expires in the summer, it is believed that negotiations are on to extend it.

The Potters have expressed interest in signing the Republic of Ireland international.

According to Sky Sports, Stoke made an attempt to entice him out of Ashton Gate in January.

However, Bristol Live has since acknowledged that an offer was flatly turned down.

The head coach of the Robins told reporters: “Yes, there has been some interest.

I spoke with Syksey yesterday and again today, and I believe it’s one of those.

He’s having a great time here and is quite content.

He’s performed quite well since returning, and I believe he’s really hit a level with us lately.

I had a nice conversation with Syksey, and I don’t think he’s going away.

“Those conversations [around his extension] are ongoing at the minute.”

Since moving from Oxford United to Bristol City in 2022, Sykes has grown to be a beloved member of the team.

Playing on the left or right of a midfield, he has made 15 league games this season and contributed two assists,

demonstrating his versatility.

If Mark Robins is successful, he will join striker Ali Al-Hamadi, who is on loan from Ipswich Town,

and left-back Josh Wilson-Esbrand, who is on loan from Manchester City, in joining Stoke during the current winter transfer window.

Lewis Baker and Nathan Lowe, who were on loan at Blackburn Rovers and Walsall,

respectively, have been brought back to the bet365 Stadium.
