Vincent Kompany laments Bayern Munich’s inability to score against Slovan Bratislava
Bayern Munich secured a playoffs spot in the Champions League, but probably could have finished higher in the table had they scored more goals than the three they put past Slovan Bratislava, or if they avoided the losses to Aston Villa, FC Barcelona, or Feyenoord (by scoring goals). The Bavarians now get either an easy draw (Celtic) or a harder one (Manchester City). Whoever they face, Vincent Kompany wants momentum to ensure progression to the next round.
“We had a lot of attacking players on the pitch & had a big chance to go 4-0. We didn’t take our chances”, the Belgian coach said (as captured by Twitter account @iMiaSanMia). “I’m not looking too far. Whoever we face next, we have to build our momentum and energy again.”
It’s not only in the Champions League that Bayern struggled to score in. Even in the Bundesliga, teams just sit back and counter and that’s all they need to do to catch Bayern cold.
