‘Under pressure’ – Watford vs Norwich City ‘New’ kick-off time, team news, prediction.
Watford host Norwich City at Vicarage Road this weekend in their upcoming Championship clash.
Watford are sat in 9th place in the table and are three points off the play-offs. They lost 2-1 away at Coventry City last time out.
The Hornets have the chance to bring in some players before the end of the January window. They also have the opportunity to let some individuals leave.
Tom Cleverley’s side have lost their last two matches on the spin. Prior to their loss against the Sky Blues, they were beaten by Preston North End at home.
As for Norwich City, they won 5-1 at home to Swansea City in their last outing. Johannes Hoff Thorup will want his side to build some momentum now.
The Canaries made the top six last year but were beaten by Leeds United at the semi-finals stage over two legs. They then parted company with former manager David Wagner.
It has since been a campaign of transition for the Carrow Road club. They have stuck with Hoff Thorup following his arrival last summer.
Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…
Harry Mail
“Both of these teams will fancy their chances of a push for the play-offs between now and the end of the season.
“Watford will want to return to winning ways after their back-to-back defeats and the pressure is on Tom Cleverley with their record of sacking managers.
“Norwich City will be in confident mood though after battering Swansea City last time out and will hope to get three points again at Vicarage Road.
“This is a tough one to call as the sides are evenly matches. However, I think the visitors may just edge it.”
Prediction: Watford 1-2 Norwich City
James Ray
“Watford and Norwich City are both sides in a position where they could push into the play-off spots over the remainder of the season, but I don’t think either are strong enough to do so.
“Neither will be taking that mindset though, and it means this could end up being an important game.
“The Hornets are faltering a bit and home form has really fallen away with three straight losses. That could give hope to the visitors, though they’re pretty poor on the road.
“Both sides are capable of nicking the win but in their current positions, I’m not convinced either will. I’ll say this ends level.”
Prediction: Watford 1-1 Norwich City
