JUST IN: In light of Andries Ulderink’s resignation, Philippe Clement has named the Rangers legend assistant manager.
The coach is now Philippe Clement’s second-in-command at Ibrox.
A “family situation” caused Aldries Ulderink to leave the Ibrox club,
and Charai took over as Clement’s right-hand man.
Charai joins the Rangers backroom crew, which also includes Colin Stewart,
Alex Rae, Brian Gilmour, and Stephan Van Der Heyden.
The seasoned coach, who has managed Morocco’s under-23 team and coached in the
Belgian Pro League, joins Ibrox from Ligue 1 club Strasbourg.
Issame Charai has been appointed as Rangers‘ assistant manager for the men’s first squad,
the club stated in a statement.
After serving as an assistant manager in the Belgian Pro League and as manager of
Morocco’s under-23 squad, where he guided them to the under-23 African Cup of
Nations championship, seasoned coach Charai joins Gers from Ligue 1 outfit Strasbourg.
“His promotion coincides with Rangers confirming that Andries Ulderink,
the assistant manager of the men’s first squad, is leaving for personal reasons.
“Due to a familial circumstance, Ulderink, who joined the Gers in the summer,
is currently leaving Ibrox to return to the Netherlands.
“Everyone at Rangers wishes Andries well for his future, and asks his privacy is respected at this time.”
