Just In: Graham Potter completes West Ham’s first January signing as the striker signs

Josh Landers, a highly regarded teenage striker from Hibernian, has officially joined the Hammers,

according to the Evening Standard.

The 17-year-old has agreed to a permanent transfer to the East London club after going through a

trial at the Rush Green training facility in Dagenham.

As he continues to grow, Landers, who turns 18 next month, will first join the Hammers’

academy rather than the first team.

Landers, a former Scotland Under-16 international, made his debut against England at that level and has

been making an impression with Hibernian’s U19 team.

Senior football has already been experienced by Landers.

After agreeing to his first professional contract in August 2023, he made three competitive appearances

for Hibs’ first team, including two in the Scottish Premiership.

His transfer to West Ham represents the next significant milestone in his career, having been a member of Hibernian’s academy since he was ten years old.

Under new transfer manager Kyle Macaulay, West Ham is restructuring their recruitment approach, which includes the signing.

Last week, Macaulay rejoined West Ham from Chelsea, rekindling their ten-year romance with manager Graham Potter.

The first team needs to be strengthened for West Ham.
The January transfer window for West Ham has been quiet thus far.

Their sole significant action has been to end Maxwel Cornet’s Southampton loan in order to allow him to join Genoa, an Italian team, for the remainder of the season.

For the second part of the season, the Hammers must concentrate on bolstering the starting lineup.

After Michail Antonio, Niclas Fullkrug, and Jarrod Bowen were injured, Potter is still in charge of the team,

with Danny Ings as the sole healthy striker.
