JUST IN: A £40 million transfer hint is dropped by a Tottenham and Nottingham Forest target.
Despite reports that a price tag has been fixed, the Brentford striker did not rule out leaving the
Gtech Community Stadium this month.
Amid rumors that he may leave Brentford before Deadline Day next week, Yoane Wissa,
a transfer target for Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest, acknowledged that it would be “a dream” to play for a top six team.
The Brentford talisman is having a fantastic season at the Gtech Community Stadium,
having already scored 11 Premier League goals this year. The most recent reports of
interest in the striker’s services from top division rivals Spurs and Forest were published in
the Evening Standard.Last week, Brentford turned down Nottingham Forest’s £22 million offer,
and the West London team reportedly put a £40 million price tag on the striker. A possibl
e departure could be approved if an offer in that ballpark is made. Wissa joined Brentford from
Lorient in 2021 and has a contract there through 2026. This month, Thomas Frank has attempted
to downplay reports of a sale. The Bees manager responded, “Good luck,” when asked if Wissa would go.
That will never occur. In an interview this week with the French channel Canal+, Wissa was less
certain about his future at Brentford. “There is interest,” the 28-year-old stated when asked if there
had been a bid for him. I’m not really sure if a transfer is happening. Indeed, since the summer,
there has been interest. I’m enjoying my season just as much as Brentford is.
I’m just considering Brentford right now, and we’ll see what transpires.”
