Evan Ferguson of Brighton and Hove Albion arrived at Celtic ahead of loan medicals.
Evan Ferguson of Brighton & Hove Albion is a target for Celtic during the January transfer window.
According to Sky Sports, Celtic “like” the Republic of Ireland international striker, and a possible loan agreement has been suggested.
However, Ferguson, who was referred to as a “superstar” by former Manchester City defender Micah Richards on BBC Sport in August 2023, is attracting interest from several Premier League clubs as well as clubs in mainland Europe.
According to Sky Sports, Fabian Hurzeler, the manager of Brighton, intends to speak with Ferguson over his future.
Ferguson is a sought-after player. The Brighton striker has drawn interest from Everton, Tottenham Hotspur, and West Ham United.
Even on loan, Celtic’s chances of acquiring the 20-year-old striker during the January transfer window are slim.
Nonetheless, the child would thrive if he joined the Hoops.
Ferguson is a very gifted striker, but he is currently not succeeding in the Premier League.
This season, the striker has made ten substitute appearances and two starts in the Premier League, scoring one goal each time.
Ferguson scored six goals in 1366 Premier League minutes during the 2023–24 season, while he scored six goals in 10 league starts during the 2022–23 campaign.
Ferguson, who is only 20, might feel more confident after spending a few months in Scotland.
He might thrive and resume scoring goals on a regular basis under former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, as Celtic is a free-flowing team that scores goals for enjoyment.
Given the likelihood of the Glasgow giants winning the Scottish Premiership this season, Ferguson might return to Brighton as a more experienced and self-assured striker.
