Nottingham Forest has been found guilty of breaking the regulations and will not be able to sign players for two transfer windows.
Nottingham Forest is now in the relegation zone after receiving a four-point deduction for violating Premier League financial regulations. With nine games remaining, they are currently in 18th place.
Following Everton‘s punishment, Forest became the second team this season to be docked points, according to a Premier League statement issued on Monday. According to the statement: “On January 15, Nottingham Forest was referred to an independent Commission after the club acknowledged that it had exceeded the relevant PSR threshold of £61 million by £34.5 million.
Because the team played in the EFL Championship for two seasons during the assessment period, the threshold was less than £105 million. The new Premier League Rules, which give PSR cases a quicker turnaround time to be resolved in the same season the complaint is filed, were followed when hearing the case.
Even though Brennan Johnson was sold to Tottenham during the most recent summer transfer window, Forest still suffered losses. In September, Wales international Johnson paid £47.5 million to join Spurs.
It was discovered that the club was £34.5 million over the limit. Since Forest’s excess was 77% greater than Everton’s in 2021–22, the Premier League planned to dock them six or eight points; nonetheless, two points were deducted because Forest entered an early guilty plea and cooperated completely.
