“Monchi wants him very much” – Aston Villa hovering for player after West Ham offer rejected

Following the rejection of West Ham’s offer, Aston Villa is vying for the player because “Monchi wants him very much.”

Turkish media outlets are claiming that Aston Villa is still interested in

Galatasaray forward Baris Alper Yilmaz.

After making an impression for Turkey at the previous summer’s Euros and

continuing that form into this season, the 24-year-old has been linked to

West Ham United and Nottingham Forest in recent weeks.

Haber Sarikirmizi reported on Galatasaray reporter Yakup Çınar’s remarks

regarding the most recent events surrounding Yilmaz.

In an effort to increase their offensive alternatives, Çınar claims that

Aston Villa is currently in the running to sign the right winger before the next transfer window. He added that Monchi thinks highly of the player.

Again, West Ham are credited with interest and it’s reiterated they made an offer which wasn’t accepted.

“West Ham have put €30m on the table for Baris Alper. Galatasaray refused, saying, ‘Come at the end of the season’. Aston Villa are also following, Monchi wants him very much. At the end of the season, both Aston Villa and West Ham will be knocking on Galatasaray’s door,” said the Galla reporter.

Galatasaray are fighting on three fronts for silverware and subsequently the Super Lig leaders don’t want to sell one of their key players in this window.

In the summer it’s likely there will be plenty of interest from Premier League clubs and reports in Turkey suggest Galatasaray will then be willing to sell.

Yilmaz is contracted to the Istanbul giants until June 2027.
