Derby County have been docked six points after admitting to violating the EFL’s Profitability and Sustainability guidelines.

Due to their ongoing financial issues, Derby County, a championship team, is scheduled to enter administration.

The club, which is for sale, stated that finding a buyer was improbable in the near future even after talks with many “credible parties.”

They will be docked 12 points, the English Football League confirmed.

It asserts that the pandemic has rendered them “unable to service its day-to-day financial obligations” and cost them about £20 million in lost revenue.

“We cannot stress enough how devastating it is to be forced into this position,” this statement from the board stated.

According to reports, Derby might lose nine more points and have three more suspended, but the EFL stated on Thursday that no decision has been made as of yet.

Administrators would not be legally permitted to accept an agreed-upon forward business plan that the Rams would be required to follow as part of the suspended sentence, thus those discussions between the EFL and the club have now been placed on pause.

Since June 2019, Derby owner Mel Morris has been attempting to sell the team, but two potential deals have already fallen through.
