Cardiff City could be without five players vs Leeds United amid Aaron Ramsey injury boost

Things are looking up for Cardiff City as they prepare to go head-to-head with Leeds United. The Bluebirds are unbeaten in seven Championship matches heading into their meeting with the Whites in West Yorkshire on Saturday.

But despite an upturn in their fortunes, City remain 18th in the table, just four points above the relegation zone. Their record on the road also leaves a lot to be desired, with Omer Riza’s team having recorded just one win away from home all season.

The trip to Elland Road is likely to come too soon for Aaron Ramsey. The former Arsenal and Juventus midfielder resumed full training last week following a long injury lay-off.

Riza said: “Everyone knows what Aaron has done in his career, how much the club means to him and the experiences that he’s got. It’s nice for the players and the staff to have him back out there. I’m sure he’ll start to do more and more to get him back to playing.

“He’s got to complete full training first and he’ll be down to play some Under-21 minutes to make sure he can come through it ok. Hopefully after that, we can reintroduce him and he will be up for selection. When that will be, I don’t know.

“It’s important that we don’t rush him. Although he’s an important player and we want him back, he’s had a couple of issues in the past and we just need to make sure that doesn’t happen again.”

City will be hoping Ollie Tanner and Callum O’Dowda are passed fit to be involved against the Championship leaders. The duo missed Saturday’s win over Derby County because of knocks.

David Turnbull and Isaak Davies (both hamstring) remain sidelined.
