Mavericks’ Klay Thompson drops humble truth bomb that will inspire 24 Hour Fitness hoopers
After Monday night’s Mavericks victory against the Wizards, Klay Thompson made an unusually humbling admission.
DALLAS— On Monday night, the Dallas Mavericks defeated the Washington Wizards 130-108, which was a significant victory. Leading the way with 23 points, Klay Thompson shot 7-12 from beyond the
arc and 8-15 from the field. In addition to being extremely effective in the game, Klay’s 21 points in the first quarter tied the Mavs’ franchise record for most points in a quarter.
When asked what it’s like to be that focused during an NBA game, Thompson had a very modest response after the game.
“Really, it feels fantastic at any level,” Thompson remarked. “It feels fantastic at 24 Hour Fitness,
in D3 basketball, in the EuroLeague, and anywhere else.” Any great athlete, artist, or performer strives
to achieve that state of flow. When you do get into that mode, you try to remember what you did and
try to recreate it as much as you can. This is why it’s uncommon because it’s really difficult to
accomplish consistently. One thing I’ve learnt is that you have to let those wonderful evenings
happen; you can’t force them.
Kidd remarked, “Klay set the tone; he was great tonight.” Spencer (Dinwiddie) did a fantastic job
setting the stage as the point guard, in my opinion. I assumed he was trying to find Klay. I believed
Klay was prepared and the screens were set up. He started us off, and I believe everyone else did the same.
On Monday night, Klay Thompson had a lot of assistance. Off the bench, Olivier-Maxence Prosper scored 20 points. Daniel Gafford scored 18 points and pulled down eight rebounds, while PJ
Washington scored 19 points and pulled down nine rebounds. Despite just scoring six points,
Spencer Dinwiddie made a significant contribution with his nine assists.
