DONE DEAL: I knew he was coming to Nottingham Forest, says Jamie Redknapp. Not shocking

As the team looks to add one or two players before the transfer market closes, Nottingham Forest has been connected to several attacking players this month.

Evangelos Marinakis desires a fresh assailant. However, the Reds are running out of time to complete a deal with only one week left in the transfer window.

On Saturday, Forest lost to Bournemouth 5-0. Panic stations aren’t really necessary, though, and perhaps the Reds can bounce back from this outcome swiftly.

This month, Yoane Wissa was connected to Forest. Although the Brentford striker’s current deal only has 18 months left on it, the Bees do not want him to leave the team anytime soon.

Behind the scenes at the City Ground, this week looks to be spectacular. The task for Forest is to bolster the team and attempt to maintain their high league standing, as they are currently in third place in the Premier League.

Yesterday’s Super Sunday match between Brentford and Crystal Palace sparked conversation about Wissa. With a 12-goal striker being linked to a move away, the striker is currently the talk of the town.

Redknapp doesn’t think Forest’s offer of Wissa would ever be accepted. He has, however, disclosed the amount of money needed to persuade Brentford to sell.

“I think the only thing is that he only has 18 months left on his contract, and I guess that’s where you have to be smart,” he stated on Sky Sports.

“I believe they have made an offer of £20–25 million. If the offer reaches £40 million, I believe there is a new problem. Or do you simply offer him a contract to keep him at the club?” But his abilities are undeniable.

Wissa won’t cost Forest £40 million.

Even if Wissa is exceptionally talented at the Premier League level, it’s difficult to see the Reds reversing their excellent hiring by investing £40 million for a player who is now 28 years old.

After Brentford gained promotion to the top tier through the Championship play-offs, Wissa joined from Lorient and has been in excellent goal-scoring form ever since.

But Forest is running out of time. Over the past week or so, things have sprung to life, but as far as a new signing is concerned, nothing seems to be coming close.

Forest will probably continue to keep an eye on Wissa. But this seems like a deal that the Reds could do far more easily.
