Chelsea’s scathing Unai Emery statement outlines their apparent £80 million Jhon Duran transfer mission.

From Chelsea’s perspective, interest in Jhon Duran has never really diminished.

In an attempt to give Enzo Maresca more choices for the No. 9 position that Nicolas Jackson was occupying, the Blues made an attempt to sign the 21-year-old striker from Aston Villa last summer. But in addition to failing to sign Duran in the end, the West Londoners were unable to acquire any strikers other than Marc Guiu, who was eighteen at the time.

West Ham United also showed a lot of interest in Duran, but he remained at Villa. Under manager Unai Emery, it appeared at the start of the season that the Colombian forward would once again take a backseat to the outstanding Ollie Watkins.
