Chelsea are leading the pursuit for Rangers left-back Jefte, as the Ibrox board prepares for summer interest in the Brazilian star.
Jefte joined Glasgow from Fluminense in May after impressing on loan with APOEL in Cyprus. And he has established himself as one of Philippe Clement’s primary performers this season, thanks to a string of brilliant performances both domestically and in the Europa League.
The Rangers Review knows that Chelsea has made initial contact with Jefte’s representatives to inquire about a potential switch at the end of the season. Rangers are also aware of several teams on the continent showing interest in one of their most valuable assets.
Jefte has 34 appearances in all competitions for Rangers and is expected to start the Europa League game against Union Saint-Gilloise on Thursday evening. The full-back is under contract with Rangers for another three seasons, and no bids have yet been received. Patrick Stewart, the new Ibrox CEO, insisted earlier this month that none of Clement’s main performers would leave the club during this window amid speculation over the future of striker Hamza Igamane.
