SAD NEWS: Tottenham make Ange Postecoglou sack decision after humiliating Leicester defeat – Details
Ange Postecoglou will NOT be sacked as Tottenham boss despite being
told he doesn’t have the “ability” to get the club back on track.
The Australian is under huge pressure in North London after yet another defeat at the weekend.
Sunday’s 2-1 reverse at the hands of struggling Leicester was their eighth league defeat in their last ten games.
And it has seen Postecoglou’s long-term future with Spurs called into question
but it appears that there is no appetite for change among the board – for now at least.
According to football.london, Daniel Levy is set to keep faith in the former Celtic boss.
There is reportedly understanding among club chiefs that the ongoing injury crisis
engulfing Spurs has contributed to their horrendous form. The club are also set to back
Postecoglou in the transfer market, with at least one signing targeted by the end of the January transfer window.
Postecoglou has two-and-a-half years remaining on the four-year deal he signed
when moving from Celtic. Asked for his stance on his own position, the 59-year-old
admitted that he wasn’t sure if he would be in charge for Spurs’ next game.
“Who knows?” he said. “When you are the manager of a football club you can be
very vulnerable and isolated. I don’t feel that. I feel like this group of players are giving
everything for the club. I have a group of staff that is really committed. I focus on that.
My role within that is to try and support these players.
“When the guys who are coming back come back it is going to give everybody a lift.
There is a fantastic opportunity this season to make an impact and I know we can.
But in terms of your question, is there anything I can say about that that is going to
change anything that I need to do tomorrow morning? Nothing.”
Despite that, Postecoglou has been slammed for his contribution to the ongoing crisis.
Former England goalkeeper Rob Green has claimed his stubbornness is not helping the players out.
