Nottingham Forest could attempt to secure a deal for the £42m midfielder before the deadline

It seems Nottingham Forest are intensifying their attempts to acquire new players ahead of the closing of the January transfer window next week.

The Reds are considering bringing attacking players to the City Ground. Evangelos Marinakis desires for the team to have ample resources in the final third, and there are efforts underway to recruit someone.

Matheus Cunha has been linked with Forest. Wolves are embroiled in a relegation battle and slipped into the relegation zone at the weekend, making it highly unlikely that they will sanction a sale.

Another Premier League striker is being eyed by Forest too. However, Jamie Redknapp thinks Yoane Wissa could cost the club £40 million and once again that feels like a tricky deal to do.

Though attackers dominate the scene, other players are under consideration prior to the deadline. There seems to still be a long-term target in sight, but Forest will find it difficult to sign him this month.

Nottingham Forest are interested in Douglas Luiz

The Brazilian seems likely to attract attention in the coming week. Luiz transferred to Juventus from Aston Villa over the summer, with Juventus paying £42 million for him. As reported by the Daily Mail, Forest are poised to attempt to acquire Luiz before the transfer deadline. However, Manchester City have the advantage, as Chelsea, Manchester United, and Fulham also want him.

Last season, Luiz proved to be an astonishing revelation at Aston Villa. He assisted the club in securing a remarkable top-four finish and qualifying for the Champions League after a long time.
