Fabian Hurzeler has a lot to learn from the Everton manager, as evidenced by his response to David Moyes’ query.
In addition to managing the transfer to the new stadium and saving
Everton’s historic final season at Goodison Park, David Moyes, the “True Blue,
” is also expected to try to alleviate the team’s travel ailment.
Similar to when he took over in 2002 and immediately connected with the supporters
by referring to Everton as “The People’s Club,” the Glaswegian has won his first
away game after a first-ever home victory.
Derby County was the fall guys at the time, but the Blues won 4-3 at Pride
Park thanks to goals from David Unsworth, Alan Stubbs, Niclas Alexandersson,
and Duncan Ferguson. This time, there was only one goal from the penalty spot,
thanks to It’s a different David Moyes and a different Everton, the manager
himself stated upon his return. That is true, yet he has still gained three more points.
The Rams had finished ahead of the Blues in three of the previous five seasons,
but they hadn’t made an impression like Brighton & Hove Albion in recent years.
Derby has a long and rich history in the game. They are two-time English champions,
a team that has won the FA Cup, and were founding members of the Football
League alongside Everton in 1888, before the present-day so-called “Big Six” or
Newcastle United, who were supported by the petrodollar-fueled sovereign
wealth fund of the kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
