Celtic look set to ramp up their bid to land Arsenal full-back Kieran Tierney in the January transfer window.

The Scotland international left-back is fully expected to put pen to paper for the Scottish champions on a

long-term deal in the summer when his current Arsenal contract expires.

However, the Daily Record reports that Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to land the 27-year-old

prodigal son immediately.

Last Wednesday night, Tierney appeared to bid farewell to the Arsenal fans at the Emirates Stadium during

their UEFA Champions League clash against Dinamo Zagreb.

He received a warm reception as he was introduced by former Rangers midfielder and Gunners manager Mikel Arteta in the 74th minute, replacing Oleksandr Zinchenko.

With Greg Taylor’s future at the club uncertain, Rodgers sees Tierney as an ideal addition for the second half of the season.

Celtic can still register three players for next month’s crucial Champions League play-off round.

With a week to go in the transfer window, Celtic have already secured the return of a former hero with Portuguese superstar Jota.

The winger rejoined the club on a five-and-a-half-year deal from French Ligue 1 side Rennes.

The club are also still in the market for a striker with Swedish striker Mathias Kvistgaarden and Brighton’s Evan Ferguson both heavily linked with a switch to Glasgow.
