Striker makes decision on £30m Nottingham Forest move amid Arsenal links – journalist
Nottingham Forest are desperate to complete the signing of another attacking player before the transfer window slams shut early next month.
Evangelos Marinakis wants a new forward player to be added to the Forest squad. With that in mind, a number of rumours have started to do the rounds regarding players potentially coming to Forest.
Yoane Wissa is a target for Forest this month. Brentford rate the player very highly though and don’t want to lose their star striker with European qualification still a genuine possibility for this season.
Another player wanted by Forest is Matheus Cunha. It’s believed that Forest are going to make a huge bid for the Brazilian player as they try to tempt Wolves into selling their star man.
Other names are starting to emerge as possible targets for Forest. Ultimately, the Reds are going to need someone in but it would appear that convincing someone to join might prove problematic.
Igor Jesus turns down Nottingham Forest transfer
Forest look to have upped the ante in an attempt to sign the Brazilian striker before the window closes. Arsenal were keen to sign Jesus earlier this month but a loan bid was rejected.
Now, Brazilian journalist Bernardo Pinho has claimed that Forest had bid £30 million for Jesus and the club’s president was happy with the amount and willing to sanction the deal.
However, Jesus has tuned the transfer down and seems happy to stay put. He helped Botafogo win the Brazilian title for the first time in their history during 2024 and is very happy in Brazil.
At 23-years-old it does seem like the ideal time for him to move to Europe. The striker, however, clearly believes that another season with Botafogo won’t do his development any harm at all.
Jesus would have been ideal signing for Forest
Although the player has no experience in the Premier League, he does know where the net is. Last season for Botafogo he bagged 25 goals and established himself as one of the top strikers in the league.
Jesus has actually made his debut for Brazil and added a further three caps to his total, scoring once. The player is likely to command a place in the national team for years to come and looks like a really bright talent.
Forest will struggle to sign a domestic striker this month. Clubs know that the Reds want a new talisman so will place a premium bounty on the head of their own players to thwart off any advances.
In Brazil, however, things are different. It’s clear that Botafogo were keen to do business at £30 million and that would have made Jesus the perfect signing for Forest this month.
