JUST IN: Update emerges on Sheffield United transfer chase for Wolves player
Tommy Doyle, a midfielder for Wolverhampton Wanderers, will not be joining Sheffield United
during this transfer window.
Despite not being among the first names on the team sheet at Molineux, journalist Alan Nixon
claims that Wolves are eager to keep the player past the deadline and want him to contribute to
their fight for survival in the second half of this season.
At this point, the Blades are in a very different position, as they are in the running to return to
the Premier League.
Despite their crushing loss to Hull City on Friday night, they will be eager to keep scoring points
as they compete at the top of the table.
Their inexperienced Sydie Peck and full-back Harrison Burrows both started in the middle of the
pitch against the Tigers, which may have contributed to their lack of midfield alternatives.
Wolves keen to keep Tommy Doyle amid Sheffield United interest
Nixon has disclosed that Wolves wants to keep Doyle at Molineux for the rest of the season and are not interested in selling or loaning him out during this window.
The Midlands team will be eager to have as much depth as possible in their fight to remain up because
it might make the difference in the end.
This position appears to be at the expense of the Blades, as Chris Wilder is eager to sign him right now. However, as other targets are now expected to be narrowed down, that won’t be possible.
