Derby County made a financial splash by accepting Arsenal’s offer for Jerry Yates, but the agreement was broken in the add-ons.
According to manager Paul Warne, Derby County’s losing streak will only come to an end when their goal-shy performances do.
The Rams are only one spot and one point above the Championship relegation spots after a five-game losing league run in which they have only managed two goals.
In their 4-2 loss to Sheffield Wednesday over three weeks ago, Derby’s top scorer Jerry Yates scored one of those two goals to increase his season total to six goals.
“You are just not going to pick up points if you don’t score home or away,” Warne said on BBC Radio Derby.
Despite injury worries prior to the game, winger Corey Blackett-Taylor was active after coming off the bench against Sunderland in midweek. He is now being considered for what would be just his fourth league start of the season against Cardiff.
“If he is fit to start and he can play, then he is a contender,” Warne stated. “He is in excellent form because I can see what everyone else sees, which is that he crosses in and passes people.
“He is in a terrific position; we just need to confirm that he is in good physical condition. Because it would be useless to play him for 60 or 70 minutes if he isn’t physically capable of playing at that level, and I would be better off bringing him on for 30.”
