NEW DATE CONFIRMED: Celtic v Dundee match called off due to stadium damage, throws up potential Jota, Tierney twist

Celtic has confirmed that today’s match against Dundee is OFF due to the damage to the stadium caused by yesterday’s storm…

The club advised yesterday that they would assess the stadium this morning with a view to getting the match on but unfortunately that has not been possible and the club formally announced the postponement in the last few minutes

The short statement reads as follows:

Today’s scheduled Scottish Premiership match between Celtic and Dundee at Celtic Park has been called off.

Unfortunately, due to the stadium damage sustained yesterday we have been advised that we are unable to proceed with today’s match.

While clearly this is disappointing, the safety of our supporters will always be our priority.

The rearranged fixture will take place on February 5, 2025 with a 7.45pm kick-off.

Match Postponement Throws Up Potential Jota, Tierney Twist

The postponement of Celtic’s match against Dundee due to storm damage at Celtic Park has provided an unexpected twist in the timing of the fixture.

Now rescheduled for Wednesday, 5th February—two days after the transfer window closes—there’s a very real possibility that any new signings made in the final hours of the window could be part of the squad for the rearranged game.

One name dominating the headlines is Jota. Celtic are working tirelessly to secure the Portuguese winger’s return after his high-profile stint in Saudi Arabia with an excursion in France with Rennes.

CeltsAreHere understands a deal could be completed within the next 48 hours and Jota could make his second debut for the Hoops against Dundee in early February.

Another exciting prospect is the potential return of Kieran Tierney. The former Celtic left-back has been linked with a move from Arsenal, and talks are believed to be ongoing.

If Celtic can strike an agreement before the transfer deadline on 31st January, Tierney could pull on the green and white once again in front of the Paradise faithful. If the two clubs done come to an agreement Celtic would land Kieran in the summer.

The match’s new date could also provide a chance for any other late-window arrivals to make an immediate impact. Brendan Rodgers and the recruitment team are reportedly working on additional deals as Celtic push to strengthen their squad.

While the postponement is an inconvenience, it may prove to be a silver lining for supporters to see new faces in action. The idea of Jota and Tierney back in Celtic colours for the rescheduled game will undoubtedly excite fans and provide an added boost to the team.
