HERE WE GO: Cardiff City’s Ollie Tanner becomes Leicester City’s third club record purchase.
After it was revealed that several teams were interested in the 22-year-old, Cardiff City was instructed to only take a fee “north of £5million” this month to let go of Ollie Tanner.
According to Football Insider, Tanner is being considered by Championship teams Leeds United and Burnley,
as well as Premier League teams Leicester City and Southampton. The winger has shown promise for the Bluebirds this season despite adversity.
He is now the only winger we have who is direct, capable of going one-on-one, able to take on opponent full-backs,
and capable of getting us up the pitch. I believe he is a very vital player for us.
He is crucial in that regard because he is Cardiff’s sole winger with genuine speed.
There is no way that Cardiff could let him go. I believe that a substantial offer—anything above £5 million—would be required.
In what’s left in the window, we already require one additional winger.
Given how well-documented that is, I don’t think we should let Tanner go.
He has a contract that expires in 2027, so I don’t see him leaving anytime soon, but I do believe that the realistic worth is somewhere around £5 million.
He is more valuable and important to us than a £5 million player, so I don’t think he will be leaving just yet, and I most definitely don’t think it will be to a Premier League team.
