Barnsley FC’s £7 million bid for the Aston Villa player Derby County is pursuing has set a club record.
Swansea City and Derby County have expressed interest in Lamare Bogarde, although Aston Villa has turned down Barnsley’s £7 million offer.
The Premier League team declined the bid while negotiating a trade for Loic Bade, according to Football Insider.
Due to his lack of playing time in Unai Emery’s team this season, Bogarde‘s future has been the focus of transfer rumors this month.
With the squad vying for European qualifying, the defender has made four Premier League matches and two Champions League outings.
Darren Witcoop revealed earlier this month that Swansea and Derby were two of the teams considering a loan deal for Bogarde.
However, they now have to deal with the fact that Villa turned down a permanent offer for the player of £7 million.
Bogarde replaced an injured Amadou Onana in the team’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal last Saturday, making his first appearance for the team in almost two months.
The Dutchman also showed that he is becoming more important in the first team squad by coming off the bench during Villa’s 1-0 Champions League loss to Monaco in the middle of the week.
Both Derby and Swansea will be devastated by this, as they may now lose out on signing him before the deadline of February 3.
