Barcelona rejected Bayer Leverkusen’s first offer for Mika Faye, insisting on a 30% sell-on clause.

Barcelona could benefit financially from Mikayil Faye’s potential departure before the January transfer window shuts.

The defender joined French club Rennes in the summer, but he is being linked with a winter move to Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Leverkusen has approached Rennes about a prospective transfer and is now awaiting a response.

Barcelona has a 30% sell-on clause, which means they will profit from any transfer involving the defender.

Barcelona reluctantly let Faye depart in the summer for €10.3 million. However, the defender has only made six starts for Rennes since, and the club is battling around the bottom of the Ligue 1 league.

A transfer to Leverkusen to play for Xavi Alonso’s reigning Bundesliga champions may be appealing to Faye. The Bundesliga club is looking to reinforce its backline, and Faye appears to be an option.
