Ndidi, Hermansen, Coulibaly – Leicester City injury update ahead of Tottenham clash

Wilfred Ndidi could be included in Leicester City team training next week but there’s

still no definitive return date on goalkeeper Mads Hermansen.

Ndidi has played just two matches under Ruud van Nistelrooy,

injuring his hamstring in the 2-2 draw with Brighton in early December.

Since then, City have lost all seven Premier League games they’ve played.

But the Nigerian midfielder is now close to a comeback.

Van Nistelrooy expects him to be back alongside his team-mates at Seagrave next week,

in the build-up to the trip to Everton.

However, there’s no date on Hermansen’s return from his groin issue.

Van Nistelrooy said last week that he may be able to provide a clearer schedule for the number one

ahead of the trip to Tottenham, but that’s not the case.

“The players that were available against Fulham are available for Spurs on Sunday,”

van Nistelrooy said at his press conference on Friday morning.

“Mads’ situation is that he is in his recovery programme to get back to team training.

He’s making good progress there but he needs to make some further steps to become part of team training and playing games.

“I can’t yet say (when he will return). It’s getting a lot closer to the possible mentioning of a return date.

That’s how good he’s going. So hopefully by next week there’s more updates on him

“Wilfred is making very good progress in his rehabilitation.

Hopefully he can be part of team training next week some time.”

With no fresh injuries, Hermansen and Ndidi’s continued absences mean there are four players out for City.

Ricardo Pereira (hamstring) and Abdul Fatawu (knee) are unavailable for the long term.

But there will be a fresh face in the squad this week with new signing Woyo Coulibaly set to travel with the team to Tottenham. The Frenchman, signed for £3m from Parma last week, could oust James Justin, and be included in the 11 for his debut.

“He had a very good start of this week,” van Nistelrooy said on Coulibaly. “He’s part of team training. All being well he will be part of the squad on Sunday.”
