JUST IN: Tottenham’s priority plans for final week of transfer window revealed – Fabrizio Romano

Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano have provided updates on Tottenham’s plans for the final week of the transfer window, and both are adamant that the Lilywhites’ business is far from done.

Tottenham fans concerned by transfer inactivity

Coming into the transfer window, most Spurs fans would have hoped to see the club do some swift transfer business, given the injury crisis in N17.

That hope was raised when Tottenham wasted no time in signing Antonin Kinsky from Slavia Prague, thus filling a big hole in the squad.

However, since then, things have gone awfully silent at Hotspur Way, with the club not appearing to be particularly close to doing any deals at the moment.

Postecoglou admitted on Wednesday that no signing is imminent, simply stating that the club is ‘working hard’ to get deals over the line, a statement which will hardly fill the supporters with confidence.

Tottenham backed to do late transfer business

However, Michael Bridge and Fabrizio Romano have now assuaged Tottenham fans’ fears by revealing that the club are still working on signings, especially a striker, even though the identity of their top targets remains unknown for the moment.

When asked about Spurs’ plans for the final 10 days of the window, Bridge told GiveMeSport: “They’re keeping their cards close to their chest in terms of names, but they want a forward. They are absolutely desperate to bring a forward in. Dominic Solanke is out. Richarlison’s only just come back. Very injury-prone forward.

“They wanted Kolo Muani from PSG. Links between PSG and Spurs, with the ownership at PSG and their friendship with Daniel Levy, there was confidence that might have happened, but Kolo Muani ended up going to Juve to play in the Champions League. It is what it is, but there are discussions this week about bringing players in. A forward is the absolute priority.”

Meanwhile, Romano asserted that Spurs’ plan is to bring at least two new faces through the door before the February 3 deadline.

The Italian told GiveMeSport: “They’re working on it, Tottenham need players. After Kinsky, they wanted to bring in (Randal) Kolo Muani, but as we know, he’s going to Juventus, so that was not possible. The idea remains to bring in at least two players from now to the end of the window.”

Two more signings are the bare minimum Spurs need

One appreciates the fact that deals are not often easy to do in January as clubs are reluctant to let their top players leave mid-season.

However, it was clear that Postecoglou needed some help early in the window, and he has been let down by the club.

The next seven days are a huge acid test for Tottenham’s recruitment department, who need to bring in a quality defender and a quality forward through the door at the bare minimum.
