Just In: Loan Agreement and Medical Cleared for Al-Hamadi Stoke
The Potters and the 22-year-old had discussions yesterday,
and it is understood that an agreement has been reached whereby the Potters will pay Town a sizeable loan fee.
Contrary to other stories that said it was because of his physical,
Al-Hamadi had discussions with West Brom manager Tony Mowbray earlier in the week,
and a permanent deal was canceled because of the money.
This season, Al-Hamadi has been Town’s third-choice forward,
but his two starts came in cup matches against Bristol Rovers and his old team, AFC Wimbledon,
so his exit is not shocking.
After Town pulled out of the deal to recruit Armando Broja on loan from Chelsea,
the Iraqi international, who had adductor surgery at the end of the previous season,
was on the verge of joining Derby on loan in the summer.
A January loan or permanent move to a Championship club has always seemed likely,
as the Blues are eager to add a more experienced forward during this window.
However, manager Kieran McKenna stated yesterday that there is no assurance that this
will occur before the deadline of Monday, February 3.
Born in Iraq and brought up in Liverpool In January of last year, Al-Hamadi moved from
AFC Wimbledon to Town for a sum that increased to about £2 million after promotion.
For the Blues, he has made 24 substitute appearances, scored five goals, and made three starts,
including one in the league. In the Carabao Cup match against his former team at Plough Lane in August,
he scored his lone goal of the season.
