Frank Lampard gives a transfer update amid uncertainty regarding Rabbi Matondo’s deal between Coventry City and Rangers
Frank Lampard states that there are no “imminent” incoming transfers for Coventry City, in light of reports suggesting the transfer of Rangers’ forward Rabbi Matondo has fallen through.
This week, it seemed like the Sky Blues were poised to take the 24-year-old winger on loan, but negotiations have evidently stalled, leaving it uncertain whether the player will be joining the Championship club. According to Sky Sports, the transfer has collapsed because of a disagreement between the clubs, which they claim have been unable to come to terms on the bonuses involved in the deal.
This month, City have been associated with various players, such as young Chelsea midfielder Sam Rak-Sakyi and seasoned Crystal Palace player Jeffrey Schlupp, who offers versatility in several positions on the left and in midfield.
When asked during today’s pre-match press conference before the weekend’s CBS Arena match against Watford if the club is close to acquiring any new players, Lampard responded: “No, not at this period in time. I have no information to share that is imminent.
When asked about Matondo at Rangers and the situation concerning the Wales international, he replied: “I’m not going to speak about that one today. He’s a player for the Rangers, and I believe it’s respectful not to discuss that one right now.
