Clement should drop the 13-pass Rangers player who had fewer touches than Butland.
Glasgow Rangers experienced heartbreak in the Europa League on Thursday as Philippe Clement’s side fell 2-1 to Manchester United, with a late goal from Bruno Fernandes sealing the win for the Red Devils. The teams were battling for a top-eight finish to secure a place in the last 16.
Man United initially took the lead after a mistake by Rangers’ goalkeeper Jack Butland, and it seemed like they were cruising to victory. However, with just two minutes left in normal time, Cyriel Dessers capitalized on a mistake from Harry Maguire, scoring a stunning equalizer for Rangers. Despite this, Fernandes’ late goal ultimately decided the match.
While there were some promising performances from Rangers, one of the biggest disappointments was Nedim Bajrami, who struggled throughout the match. The Albanian, who has often played out of position this season, had a disappointing display, making only 13 passes and 25 touches, fewer than Butland. He failed to create any chances, attempted no dribbles, and registered no shots. His performance was criticized, and it’s possible he could be dropped for the next match against Dundee United.
With Ianis Hagi unavailable for the Europa League match, he could be a potential replacement for Bajrami in the starting XI. If Bajrami doesn’t improve soon, he may lose his place to the club’s emerging talents.
