Aston Villa’s transfer blitz as the “hot” forward’s contract are finalized
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, the TV pundit has praised Malen’s versatility
and elite level experience as reasons for joining Unai Emery’s team. On January 13,
Malen joined from Borussia Dortmund for approximately £21 million plus add-ons,
while two days later, Jaden Philogene left for Ipswich Town for a comparable price.
“I’ve seen Malen quite a bit. Although he blows a little hot and cold, this season he has blown mostly hot.
He’s a good player to sign for a relatively low price because he’s a
Dutch international who can play behind or alongside the striker,” Darke added.
Though not recently, Philogene appeared to come off the bench frequently.
That is just a typical example of a player believing they can further their profession in another location.
In the winter market, Aston Villa remains active.
Since Malen and Andres Garcia have both come, Aston Villa is still looking to add players,
but nothing is official as of yet. After a slew of exit links from Villa Park,
Diego Carlos has now joined Philogene at Fenerbahce,
and Lewis Dobbin was recalled from West Brom and transferred to Norwich City on a new loan agreement.
