Ahead of Aston Villa’s Champions League match against Celtic next week, local police have sent out a message to the team’s supporters.

Following last night’s match between Manchester United and Rangers at Old Trafford,

where large groups of away supporters were able to infiltrate the home sections of the

Theatre of Dreams after videos and pictures were widely shared online,

West Midlands Police have warned Villa fans NOT to react violently if any

Celtic fans are present in the home end of Villa Park on Wednesday night.

On the stadium’s concourse, hundreds of Gers fans were seen and heard signing Rangers tunes.

They could also hear pro-Manchester City chants among their United counterparts.

Several recordings of the chaos in the stands, including home fans berating

Rangers supporters who weren’t in the designated away end, have surfaced online.

This follows previous altercations between groups of supporters from the two teams in the heart of Manchester.

The major Premier League teams are looking into the situation.

The West Midlands police claims that Villa has “tried hard” to avoid a repeat of the Battle of Britain,

which is scheduled to take place next week between the team of Brendan Rodgers and Villa.

“If there are away supporters in home areas of the stadium on Wednesday evening, do not react

with aggression or violence.” “Please allow Aston Villa staff or if required, the Police to deal with the matter.”

“Aston Villa have tried hard to prevent this happening.” Celtic has already secured their place in the

Champions League play-off, but a victory in Birmingham would still place them in the top eight,

securing them a trip to the last-16. Villa is currently in ninth place in the table,

while the Hoops are in eighteenth, separated by just one point.
