Sky Sports presenter shares big ‘news this morning’ involving Nottingham Forest and Yoane Wissa
Nottingham Forest have been keen to sign a striker during the transfer window with some interest in a number of players – including Brentford talisman Yoane Wissa.
The Reds’ owner Evangelos Marinakis has made no secret that he wants a striker. Forest are currently third in the Premier League and the ambitions for the campaign have shifted somewhat with 16 games remaining.
Forest have been linked with Matheus Cunha from Wolves. The deal could prove a useful one but it’s unlikely that they will want to lose him with the Molineux-based club embroiled in a relegation battle.
Wissa has also been scouted by Forest. The Brentford talisman has scored 11 goals this season – one more than Cunha – and it’s clear that Forest would like someone proven added to the squad.
Nottingham Forest receive an official response from Brentford over Yoane Wissa
Sky Sports News have delivered an update on the situation and Forest look set to be frustrated, with Brentford rejecting the opening offer and the Bees adamant that Wissa will stay with the club.
When it comes to recruitment in the way of buying and selling, Brentford – and Brighton – have proved the benchmark. The Bees have scouted lesser European countries and clubs to target hidden gems, with Wissa himself joining from Lorient in France.
With Ivan Toney going off to boost his bank account in Saudi Arabia, Wissa has stepped up. He’s now very much considered the main man when it comes to Brentford and Thomas Frank naturally doesn’t want to lose him.
Sky Sports have claimed that the idea is very much to keep hold of him at least until the summer. As a result, Forest must now weigh up whether or not it’s worth going back with another offer.
Forest also scouting South American market
Murillo signed a new contract with Forest this week. He’s a brilliant advert for clubs looking for gems in South America and it would appear that Forest aren’t completely discounting that area of the world either.
Igor Jesus is liked by Forest with the Botafogo striker producing the goods last season and helping the team claim a Brazilian Championship for the maiden time in their history.
Another player on the Forest radar is Yuri Alberto. He knows all about Murillo having played alongside him for Corinthians and he almost joined Southampton during the summer window.
Whether or not Jesus or Alberto remain big targets remains to be seen. However, it feels like things are stepping up one way or another and it looks likely that Marinakis will be leaving no stone unturned before the deadline early next month.
Wissa, however, might not be that player, with this update naturally providing a bit of a blow to Forest in their quest to bring another forward player to the club.
