After a performance that he described as far from their best, especially in a dull first half against

fifth-place Blackburn Rovers, Frank Lampard was more than pleased with his Coventry City team’s victory.

At Ewood Park, Ellis Simms gave the Sky Blues the lead shortly before halftime. Three minutes into

the second period, Brandon Thomas-Asante, a January target for Rovers, scored a second goal as City won 2-0.

In his post-match evaluation, the head coach stated, “I’m delighted with the result, for sure, the performance and elements of it, particularly seeing out the game well and taking chances which have been things that we’ve previously bemoaned.”

“I didn’t like us for the first twenty minutes or so, and we weren’t at our best. That may occur, but it’s crucial to stay in the game during such moments and win what we’re due—something we may not have been receiving recently when we’ve been creating opportunities but failing to score.

“Yes, we wanted to be confident on the ball and play it forward because we weren’t moving the ball

well enough,” Lampard remarked. “We gave them too much momentum and handed it away too frequently. We must perform better than we did in the first 30 minutes, even though the pitch isn’t

great.
