Scottish powerhouse Rangers will sign a loan agreement with Coventry City.
Rabbi Matondo, a forward for Rangers, is reportedly expected to join
Coventry City on loan for the second half of the 2024–2025 campaign.
Under manager and former Sky Blues midfielder Philippe Clement,
the 24-year-old winger, who primarily plays on the left but can also play
on the right and as a second striker, has only made six Scottish Premier
games this season but has already produced two goals and two assists.
His progress this term has also been hindered by a hamstring injury.
It’s understood that a deal may see the player come on an initial loan with a
buy option in the region of £2million in the summer. Sunderland and
Sheffield Wednesday have also been linked with the midfielder this month
but sources north of the line have indicated to CoventryLive that
Frank Lampard is set to secure Matondo as his first signing. After loan stints at
Cercle Bruges and Stoke City, he reportedly moved to Rangers in the summer of 2022 for £1.8 million.
The right-footed wide player scored six goals in all competitions last season,
including one in a 2-2 Champions League draw with PSV, despite not scoring in his debut season at Ibrox.
