As a former striker delivers a message to Phil Parkinson, a £14,000-per-week star demonstrates to Wrexham just what they missed out on.
After a disheartening 2-1 loss to rivals Shrewsbury Town, when defender Eoghan O’Connell had a dreadful evening,
Wrexham will be eager to get their season back on track. Before the transfer deadline expires,
Phil Parkinson wants to bolster his team,
and Wrexham is on the verge of paying £500k to Hull City to acquire Ryan Longman.
Wrexham has been linked to a number of targets that have come and gone, and they are
in dire need of a striker this month as well. With a spectacular goal on his home debut for his new team,
one target in particular provided a taste of what might have been.

they could work together to pursue promotion.
Wrexham was upset that they had missed out on signing Joe Gelhardt,
a striker who decided to accept a loan deal with Hull City from Leeds United in the Championship.
Gelhardt, who had only played twice for Leeds this season, was regarded as a wise addition to the
Wrexham front line because of his youthful athleticism and intensity,
which made him the ideal counterpoint for Paul Mullin and Ollie Palmer.
With a spectacular goal that Sky Sports analyst Matt Murray called a finish
“Wayne Rooney would have been proud of,” Gelhardt made his home debut against Queens Park Rangers,
letting Wrexham and its supporters know precisely what they have been missing.
