JUST IN: Arteta’s “big wish” is Nottingham Forest’s “primary target” for the January transfer to Arsenal.
After Gabriel Jesus sustained a season-ending injury earlier this month, Nottingham Forest reportedly made Matheus Cunha, a top target for Arsenal, their “primary target” for the January transfer window. The Gunners are searching for attacking position reinforcements in the winter window.
Due to his injury, Arsenal will be shorthanded for the next month or two as Bukayo Saka is also out, and Mikel Arteta is apparently focusing his transfer attempts on Wolves forward Cunha.
But according to the Daily Mail, Nottingham Forest, who are level, are high flying on points in the Premier League with Arsenal – have become a formidable rival.
As they fight with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham for his services, the source maintains that Forest has put the Wolves attacker “at the top of their January shopping list.”
Cunha has been “identified as a primary target by the City Ground club ahead of the transfer deadline,” and Forest is “ready to enter the market for a new attacker this month.”
Nuno Espirito Santo’s team “has a serious interest” in the Brazilian since third-place Forest now appears likely to be able to provide him Champions League play next season. They have also made a £22 million offer for Brentford’s Yoane Wissa.
