REPORT: West Ham Frustrated as Villa Reject £57m Transfer Bid
Following Aston Villa’s rejection of a £57 million proposal for the Colombian striker, West Ham
United’s pursuit of Jhon Durán has encountered a major obstacle. With add-ons, the offer would
have surpassed the £51 million spent on Lucas Paquetá in 2022 and smashed West Ham’s transfer record.

The Telegraph claims that Villa is steadfast in their position and value Durán at an outrageous £100 million, despite Graham Potter’s intense desire.
Villa’s Firm Stance on Durán
Durán has made a name for himself under Unai Emery since joining Aston Villa. Villa’s aspirations
both at home and in Europe have been strengthened by the 21-year-old’s services as a super-sub,
which include 12 goals in all competitions. West Ham’s efforts to entice Durán to London have been made more difficult by his recent commitment to the team by signing a new contract that will keep
him there until 2030.
The move by West Ham coincides with their pressing need for offensive reinforcements in the wake of Niclas Füllkrug’s hamstring injury. However, the Hammers are unlikely to make a second bid because Villa is certain about their £100 million valuation. Rather, they are focussing on other options like
Taiwo Awoniyi of Nottingham Forest and André Silva of RB Leipzig.
