For David Moyes, Everton wants to sign a £50 million Chelsea star.

According to The Athletic, Everton has added Chelsea defender

Ben Chilwell to its January list of full-back options.

The England international is allegedly one of the targets the Toffees

are pursuing in the winter transfer window as they try to add players to

David Moyes’ backline before the February 3 deadline.

The Athletic claims that Chilwell might only sign a permanent contract with Everton;

a loan move is “not possible” because Armando Broja is already at

Goodison Park and Chelsea has no intention of recalling the Albanian despite his ankle injury.

Everton has not made any acquisitions in January since Moyes took over for Sean Dyche,

but it is believed that they are looking to add a number of players to increase their chances of surviving in the Premier League.

The Athletic claims that other Premier League teams may compete with Everton for Chilwell,

who has not been in Enzo Maresca’s plans this season:

Chilwell is being held out of action to reduce the chance of injury,

which could impede a January transfer, given he has only played 45 minutes for Chelsea this season.

The 28-year-old, who was strongly linked to leaving Stamford Bridge

during the previous transfer window but stayed at the club despite interest from other Premier League teams,

seems to have no future under Maresca.

Chilwell moved from Leicester City to the Blues for £50 million in the summer of 2020.

He has since made 107 appearances, contributing 12 assists and nine goals.
