Derby County backed to clear ‘obstacle’ for loan-to-buy transfer deal for Bundesliga star midfielder Oscar Fraulo
Derby County have been linked with Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Oscar Fraulo,
with reports in the Netherlands crediting the Rams with an interest in the 21-year-old.
The Danish player is currently on loan with Eredivisie outfit FC Utrecht but a report from
SoccerNews says that is no ‘obstacle’ and the loan with an option to buy ‘may now be taken over by Derby County’.
Fraulo came through the academy at Midtjylland before moving to Mönchengladbach in the summer of 2022, signing a four-year contract.
He spent his first season mostly playing in their reserves and ahead of his second was loaned to
Utrecht where he was a virtual ever present, scoring three times and adding four assists in 37 matches.
He was also a regular in the Denmark Under-21 squad.
He returned to Utrecht for this season but his game-time has been more sporadic and so far
he has made only seven starts in the league and none in the last six matches.
Fraulo plays as a central midfielder and can operate in a deep or an advanced position.
Nevertheless, the report says the Rams ‘see potential’ in the player – having already already taken Kenzo Goudmijn from fellow Dutch outfit AZ.
The Rams need a boost to their prospects having suffered a slump in results and fallen down the Championship table just one point above the bottom three. Ebou Adams has been a regular in midfield alongside Goudmijn but could miss tonight’s game against Sunderland with a groin problem.
