BREAKING NEWS: Brentford’s transfer stance is plain as they reject Nottingham Forest’s £20 million bid.

Nottingham Forest’s initial offer for Yoane Wissa was turned down by Brentford.

The Bees do not want to sell the forward this month, despite Forest reportedly making an offer of almost £20 million.

Forest, which expressed interest in a deal last summer, has Wissa as a long-term aim and is unlikely to be discouraged by Brentford’s position.

With two weeks remaining in the January transfer window, it is unclear if Forest will make a better offer when they return.

The 28-year-old’s contract has fewer than 18 months left on it, but Brentford has the option to extend it by another 12 months if they so choose.

The £8 million spent on the former Lorient forward in 2021 would be further increased by any sell. Since then, Wissa has developed into one of the Bees’ most important players. He can play as a lone striker or on either wing.

Wissa surpassed Ivan Toney as the team’s all-time top Premier League scorer with 37 goals after his goal in the 2-2 draw with Manchester City.
