Southampton in talks to sign £30k-p/w “monster” alongside Gronbaek

According to a recent source, Southampton is now in negotiations to recruit a new midfield player

in place of Ivan Juric as they attempt to pull off a stunning comeback from relegation in the second

half of the Premier League season.

In an attempt to bolster their midfield, Southampton is reportedly still in negotiations to recruit Gronbaek’s teammate Glen Kamara from Rennes this winter, according to French publication

L’Equipe.

The Finland international midfielder only left Leeds United for Rennes in the summer, following Southampton’s victory over the Yorkshire team in the play-off final. Since a shocking cup loss to

ESTAC Troyes, he has been unable to establish himself on Jorge Sampaoli’s team and has been

benched.

Although no price is stated, it is expected to be significantly less than the €10 million they paid for

him just months ago. It is said that “Rennes want a straightforward transfer for the player as they

are about to hit their limit on loans.”

Despite having three and a half years left on his £30,000-per-week contract in France, Kamara is

now very certain to end it this winter due to interest in his talents from all over Europe.
