Report: The number of players Leicester City are targeting in January transfer window now revealed with key deals set to be sealed
Leicester City are looking to step up their transfer activity in the January transfer window as the number of signings they are looking to target this month has been revealed.
The Foxes have been quiet this month, with only one player joining Leicester this transfer window so far.
Woyo Coulibaly signed for £3m from Parma last week but extra reinforcements are needed and it seems that Ruud van Nistelrooy is well aware of that too and and with only a couple of weeks remaining until the window slams shut, time is running out.
Leicester City transfer news: Foxes want to bring in five players before deadline
Premier League survival is at stake for Leicester and as it stands, they are failing in that mission.
One of the most alarming parts of their troubles is the number of goals conceded, with Leicester shipping 48 this season – the joint-second highest amount in the top flight.
Scoring goals has also been a problem and the Foxes have drawn blanks in five of Van Nistelrooy’s nine games in charge.
Position | Team | Played | Won | Drawn | Lost | For | Against | Diff | Points |
14 | West Ham | 22 | 7 | 5 | 10 | 27 | 43 | -16 | 26 |
15 | Tottenham | 22 | 7 | 3 | 12 | 45 | 35 | 10 | 24 |
16 | Everton | 21 | 4 | 8 | 9 | 18 | 28 | -10 | 20 |
17 | Wolves | 21 | 4 | 4 | 13 | 31 | 48 | -17 | 16 |
18 | Ipswich | 22 | 3 | 7 | 12 | 20 | 43 | -23 | 16 |
19 | Leicester | 22 | 3 | 5 | 14 | 23 | 48 | -25 | 14 |
20 | Southampton | 22 | 1 | 3 | 18 | 15 | 50 | -35 | 6 |
This needs addressing immediately and according to the Daily Mail, the Foxes will look to sign five more players this winter.
A goalkeeper, centre-back and forward are among some of the positions that have been mentioned throughout January so would come as no surprise to see names come in to fill these areas.
It’s an ambitious number that will require Leicester to act much quicker than they are now and be proactive in the market as opposed to taking their time.
How much do Leicester City have to spend on transfers?
As we all know, transfers cost money and that is something that Leicester don’t have an abundance of.
Leicester are still facing PSR risks despite avoiding any charges this month and will look to spend cheaply and wisely.
Rob Dorsett of Sky Sports said on 14 January that the Midlanders will have between £12-£14m to spend on new players.
Should Tom Cannon’s £13m move to Sheffield United be completed then extra funds will be made available and that could be crucial for the ongoing relegation battle.
