QPR FC Women kick off their 2025 with an exciting Capital Women’s Cup second-round tie against Tottenham Hotspur WSL Academy at the SkyEx Community Stadium on Sunday (kick-off 2pm).
Rangers, who lifted the trophy in 2021, are eager to begin the year strongly after league fixtures against Bedford and Actonians were postponed earlier this month.
Danny Harrigan’s team head into the match with confidence, having shown impressive form at home this season.
Defender Jess Cooper, who joined Rangers during the summer and has quickly become a key player, is relishing the opportunity to start 2025 with a statement performance.
Speaking ahead of the match, the left-back said: “We definitely ended 2024 with some good momentum, and we’re just trying to maintain that in training.
“Considering we’ve had a lot of cancelled games, we need to keep pushing and improving to be ready for tough opposition on Sunday.
“They’re a strong side, but we’ve worked hard to prepare and our home form gives us a real boost.
“The SkyEx Community Stadium has been a fortress for us, and we want to keep that going on Sunday.”
Cooper also reflected on her first season with QPR, saying: “Since joining here, it has been such an exciting challenge.
“It’s great to take the new skills I’ve learned and apply them in matches. Playing alongside such experienced players has been a huge boost to my confidence, and with the support of the coaches and the club, I feel like I’ve improved so much. Starting regularly has really helped me believe in my own ability, and I’m ready to give everything on Sunday.
“This match is a chance to show what we’re all about and keep building momentum for the rest of the season.”
