Tottenham vs. Everton Postponed: The First Premier League Game Called Off
Tottenham’s game against Everton at White Hart Lane this weekend has been
postponed for the first time in the Premier League since the UK riots.
None of the other opening day Premier League ties have yet been canceled,
although Andy Holt, football head for the Association of Chief Police Officers,
previously told the BBC that each game will be handled on an individual basis.
It appears that many additional football matches, and indeed other athletic events,
may be postponed as the police attempt to contain the lawlessness that has swept the UK.
On Wednesday evening, the international friendly between England and Holland,
as well as a number of Carling Cup matches in the city, were canceled.
Clearly, it is critical that the Police set their priorities correctly in what has been a challenging week,
and sadly for football fans,…Other football matches, and indeed other athletic events,
will be postponed as the police attempt to contain the lawlessness that has swept the UK.
