Coventry City and Sheffield United were fined £10,000 and £80,000, respectively, for a brawl
during halftime of their November Sky Bet Championship match.
Anel Ahmedhodzic, a Blades defender, was sent off just before halftime at the CBS Arena for
reportedly grabbing Coventry’s Norman Bassette by the throat and shoving him to the ground after
the forward made a remark. As a result, during the break, there was what the FA called a “mass confrontation” between players and personnel from both teams.
The Football Association said: “The FA alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players and/or technical area staff did not behave in an improper and/or provocative way around the tunnel area at
half time.”
“Coventry City and Sheffield United both acknowledged and refuted the claims against them.
Following a hearing, an impartial Regulatory Commission determined that the claim against Coventry City was true and fined the clubs accordingly.
