After seeing off League Two Bromley in the FA Cup third round, Newcastle United will now face League One table toppers Birmingham City in the fourth round.
Newcastle are still fighting for both domestic cups and are now being tipped to join the Premier League title race too. It’s a good time to be a Magpie, especially given the run of nine wins in a row.
Confidence will definitely have been high when Newcastle were pulled out of the hat against League One opposition in the FA Cup fourth round.
It’s an away tie this time around with Newcastle set to travel to St Andrews to take on the former Premier League side.
BBC One will show Birmingham v Newcastle
It has been quite a fall from grace for Birmingham, but they do currently sit at the top of League One and look on course for a return to the Championship.
As for their FA Cup dreams, they will have to wait until the 8th of February at 5:45pm to fight for their place in the next round.
BBC One will show the clash between Birmingham and Newcastle as the late kick-off on Saturday 8th.
Newcastle need to avoid banana skins in back-to-back games
For Newcastle, that game comes three days after they will take on Arsenal in the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final so they could already have cup fever going into this game.
The first week in February is looking very exciting indeed for Newcastle fans with the Magpies carrying a two-goal lead into the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final, we can go into that game full of confidence, but that could also be our undoing. As is going into a game with League One opposition and expecting to win.
Let’s hope that we come through both very different tests unscathed.
