New Ernest Nuamah transfer update at Everton emerges, but it’s not the news fans were hoping for.
Everton aim to secure Ernest Nuamah as their first signing under The Friedkin Group’s ownership.
Everton have undergone significant changes recently, with The Friedkin Group completing their takeover and appointing David Moyes as manager to replace Sean Dyche. However, despite their ambitions, the Toffees have yet to secure any new signings in the January transfer window.
The club is eager to strengthen its squad, with two signings targeted this month. One key name on their radar is Lyon winger Ernest Nuamah, but negotiations may not be as advanced as previously suggested.
No Agreement Yet for Nuamah Deal
Everton are keen to bring in Nuamah before the transfer deadline to boost their attacking options. Reports on Thursday indicated that a fee had been agreed, but journalist Alan Myers refuted those claims, stating he had no confirmation of such progress.
However, Myers did confirm that Nuamah is interested in joining Everton, though the two clubs still need to finalize terms.
Moyes Urges Quick Signings
Following their loss to Aston Villa on Wednesday, Moyes emphasized the need for reinforcements, stating:
“I think it’s really important if we can add some of that quality and give the players a little lift as well.”
Everton’s struggles were evident, with fans criticizing Dominic Calvert-Lewin for missing a crucial late chance. While a deal for Nuamah is still in play, it is unlikely to be completed in time for him to feature against Tottenham Hotspur. However, the hope remains that he could arrive in time for the clash with Brighton & Hove Albion.
Everton Eyes Coventry Defender Milan van Ewijk
In addition to strengthening their attack, Everton are also looking at defensive reinforcements. ESPN reports that the club is interested in Coventry City right-back Milan van Ewijk, with Fulham also tracking the Dutch defender.
If Everton can secure both Nuamah and Van Ewijk, it would mark a significant boost for Moyes as he looks to reshape the squad for the remainder of the season.
Who is Milan van Ewijk?
Milan van Ewijk is a 24-year-old Dutch right-back who currently plays for Coventry City in the EFL Championship. He joined the club in 2023 from Heerenveen, having previously spent his entire career in the Netherlands.
Known for his pace and attacking ability, Van Ewijk quickly became a key player for Coventry, cementing his place in the starting XI. A Heerenveen ambassador described him as “very quick”, highlighting one of his standout attributes.
With Premier League interest from clubs like Everton and Fulham, Van Ewijk could be set for a move to England’s top flight soon.
With Seamus Coleman hinting at a possible departure from Everton at the end of the season, the club could face a significant loss.
Additionally, Ashley Young’s contract is set to expire, making the need for a new right-back even more urgent. Signing a replacement in the January transfer window could be a smart move for Everton to strengthen their defense ahead of next season.
